A Makeup Artist is an artist whose medium is the human body, applying makeup and prosthetics for theatrical, television, film, fashion, magazines and other similar productions including all aspects of the modeling industry. Awards given for this profession in the entertainment industry include the Academy Award for Makeup and even several entertainment industry awards such as the Emmy awards and the Golden Globes to name a few. In the United States as well as the other parts of the globe, professional licenses are required by agencies in order for them to hire the MUA. Bigger production companies have in-house makeup artists on their payroll although most MUA’s generally are freelance and their times remain flexible depending on the projects.The use of digital cameras may have made the use of bridal make up more popular.

Catalina Robayo Commando Photo

Allegedly, Robayo, 22, made the rounds of official engagements in teeny, tiny skirts and no undies, FOX411's Pop Tarts column reported. "Colombia had to be spoken to and told she needed to wear underpants as what she was doing was totally inappropriate," a close source told Fox News. "People have been pretty upset by it; there have been photos and media appearances where she has completely had her crotch out." Pop Tarts was reportedly shown one of Robayo's sans undies photos, and Paula Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization, or MUO, was none too pleased. "There were several girls in short dresses, which is a little concerning, but when I saw the (commando) picture on the front page of one of the local papers and was very, very surprised," Shugart said. "Our supervisors talked to all of the contestants about dressing appropriately, and one of our PR people spoke to her (Robayo) and apparently she said she was wearing underwear. But regardless, it created quite a stir here for a few days." But as it turns out, Robayo's under-skirt situation isn't the only controversy surrounding the competition. Apparently, pageant officials were forced to return all of the official swimsuit bikini bottoms, provided by sponsor Catalina Brasil Swimwear, as they were considered much too skimpy to air on network television. "It looks like we have rectified the issue, and the costumers were beautiful, but they sent us the first round of competition suits and being by a Brazilian designer, they were definitely a lot smaller than we're use to or most of the contestants are use to," Shugart said. "We delayed our shoot so we could add material to the bottom; otherwise, we were going to have serious problems on television. The designers) were a little surprised, they knew we were a little more conservative but... they took them back and they turned out really well."

Miss Colombia 2011 - María Catalina Robayo Vargas

María Catalina Robayo Vargas is a Colombian beauty queen who was crowned Miss Colombia 2010, the official representative to Miss Universe 2011. Born in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, Robayo is an eight-semester student of law at Pontifical Xavierian University in Cali. Prior to competing in Miss Colombia 2010, Robayo was given the chance to represent Valle in Miss Colombia 2009 when the original Miss Valle 2009, Diana Salgado, was forced to resign because "her body measures surpassed the normal requirements of the competition." Robayo only participated in the first week of the 2009 Miss Colombia pageant, after Salgado sued Valle del Cauca Department organizing committee, and regained the right to represent Valle in Miss Colombia 2009. A year later, Robayo competed once again as Miss Valle in her country's national pageant, Miss Colombia 2010, held in Cartagena on November 15, 2010, where she obtained the Miss Elegance award and the title of Miss Colombia, gaining the right to represent her country in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant, broadcast live from São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. Robayo became the center of controversy after Brazilian newspaper Agora published photos of Miss Colombia exposing she is not wearing panties during one of the public performances leading up to the Miss Universe 2011 election. According to Fox411 column Pop Tarts, the publication led to Miss Colombia being reprimanded and "told she needed to wear underpants as what she was doing was totally inappropriate." According to FOX411’s Pop Tarts, the 22-year-old Miss Colombia, Catalina Robayo allegedly made the rounds at official appearances in tiny skirts without her underpants. The said photos made their way online and widely searched.
