Richard Gere

Richard Gere has enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a movie actor for a span of thirty five years. And when it comes to Hollywood, that's really saying something. But, what is it about this actor that makes you want to see the next round of Richard Gere movies? I don't know about anyone else, but for me it's "the walk." His walk is sexy, suave, masculine and with a twist of sass and almost a little sweetness. No matter how you describe it, his walk has had me mesmerized for at least the last thirty years.

The American Gigolo (1980) Julian: There were earlier movies, but for me, Richard Gere first walked on the scene during The American Gigolo. As the name suggests, Julian was a gigolo who was very much concerned about his good looks, fashion, exercise and keeping the ladies happy, which included Lauren Hutton. Who could forget the scene where he takes out about 5 or 6 suits, lays them on the bed and coordinates each one with a tie? Back then, this type of attention to fashion was unheard of for men. This is one of the best Richard Gere movies for watching him strut his sexy stuff. This was a major treat, considering the bland and predictable plot of this movie.

An Officer and a Gentleman (1983) Zack Mayo: An Officer and Gentleman is also one of the most memorable of his movies. The movie shows Zack Mayo (Gere) going to a small coastal town trying to go through flight training school to become a Navy aviator. In the end, Zack passes the course, becomes an aviator, marries a local girl, fulfills her dream of marrying an aviator and takes her away from this boring town. Anyone who is a hopeless romantic will love this movie. Who can forget the scene in which Zack walks into the manufacturing plant in his Navy Whites and sweeps Debra Winger off of her feet? Pure Hollywood magic! As expected, the movie reviews were very positive. Once again, that sexy walk into the plant will always get you. This is by far, one of the more memorable Richard Gere movies.

Pretty Woman (1990) Edward Lewis: Richard Gere is wonderful as the very wealthy business executive who rescues a beautiful prostitute from the streets. Boy and girl (Julia Roberts) meet under unusual circumstances and fall in love. It is a twist on a common theme, but the movie works on all levels. Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) struts his stuff in perfectly tailored business suits, although now he has a head full of beautiful salt and pepper hair. The popularity of this movie brought Gere back into the limelight.
