Viggo Mortensen has been acting in films for over twenty years, and has quite a few memorable films under his belt. He was also one of the leading roles in one of the biggest franchises of all time, The Lord Of The Rings franchise. In my opinion, the following films are the top five greatest films of all time that have starred or featured Viggo Mortensen. One of his more recent films is A History Of Violence. I saw this movie in theaters and truly did not know what to expect. I had never seen a preview and at first, thought I was in for a simple film. After the first 30 minutes, however, things pick up, to say the least.
Another film of his that I recently saw was The Road. I don't know why this film had such an effect on me, but it did. This is a haunting film that is unbelievably scary and has a realistic feel to it. Robert Duvall and Guy Pearce are also in this movie. Eastern Promises is the most recent film of his that I really enjoyed, and I highly recommend it for those who like crime dramas. This movie takes place in Eastern Russia and happens to star the great Naomi Watts as well.
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King would have to be the triumph of Viggo Mortensen's career. In this film, he plays King Aragorn, who, as the title suggests, returns to his throne. This movie cleaned up at the Academy Awards, including winning the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year. Another movie that I would certainly include on this list is Appaloosa. I am not normally a fan of modern Western films, but this is one that is definitely worth seeing. This movie stars Viggo Mortensen, Jeremy Irons and Ed Harris, and happens to be directed by Ed Harris. After going through all of Viggo Mortensen's movies, it is quite clear that the guy is an incredibly talented actor.
